2 people lease a bike through their employer

Late last year, Joule won the contract for bicycle leasing for Ter Heide employees. Ter Heide is a care facility for people with multiple disabilities, both children and adults. On the four campuses in Limburg, Ter Heide tries to offer their guests the best possible home. For the mobility of their employees, bicycle leasing was one of the top priorities.

A local dealer network as a decisive factor

Ter Heide wrote a tender last year for bicycle leasing for its 650 employees. In the past, bicycle leasing had been in regular demand. When tendering out the contract, it was important that bicycle leasing be possible with local bike shops. Network density was one of the deciding factors.

Katrien Geukens (Jurist HR, Ter Heide): "When awarding the contract, one of the deciding factors was the number of bicycle dealers in the nearby area. It was clear that Joule had a large number of dealers in our nearby area. Working with Joule is very pleasant. When we ask questions, we get an answer immediately. For us, everything runs very smoothly and we would definitely recommend Joule."

Bicycle leasing as a recruitment tool and a measure of employee happiness

One of the biggest motivations for launching the bicycle plan was Ter Heide's position in relation to its (potential) employees. To strengthen its role as an attractive employer, bicycle leasing was one of Ter Heide's priorities. In the first rollout period, 50 employees of the 650 immediately got on their bikes.

Stijn Vandeurzen (Prevention Advisor Ter Heide): "Employee happiness is indeed related to good mobility. We have noticed that our employees live close to campus, which makes it easy for them to come to work by bike and no longer depend on their cars. No traffic jams provide a positive influence, and coming to work by bike provides much-needed relaxation."

What do employees say?

Diana Achten - Bike 43 Longtail (Team Coach): "The process at Joule went very smoothly. I was presented different simulations with different accessories and prices. I got the right guidance and information to choose the right bike. The communication between myself, HR and Joule went very well across the board."
Tjeerd Hazen - Riese & Muller Speed-Pedelec (employee living group): "I live 48 kilometers away from work. That's a brisk bike ride, but since I got the speed-pedelec, I actually do it every day, unless it's raining really hard. It saves fuel, it's relaxing and at the same time you get some exercise. Moreover, at Ter Heide you also get a bicycle allowance, which is very advantageous."
Anne Haex - Stromer ST3 (educator): "I think it was a very good collaboration. I had easy contact, was able to ask all my questions and went to the test event. There, I was able to test drive the Stromer, which allowed me to make an informed choice. The after-care is also excellent. I had a flat tire a while ago and through the insurance company they helped quickly. I am now advertising to my colleagues for the next boarding moment."
