The battery is an important part of your electric bike. We would like to give you some tips to keep it in perfect condition!

Tip 1 : Charge your bicycle battery as soon as possible

Is your battery dead? Then it's best to plug the battery into the charger as soon as possible. If you don't, there's an increased chance that the battery will go into deep discharge. When deep discharge occurs, the battery is no longer rechargeable and, unfortunately, you will need to replace it.

Tip 2: Charge your bike battery at least every month

In addition to charging when the battery is empty, it is also useful to charge the battery at a regular frequency. Even if it is hardly used, such as in winter, for example. Charge your battery at least every 6 weeks. Important: also take a short ride. It will get you hot!

Tip 3: Do you take a lot of short rides? Then don't charge the bike battery after every ride

It is important to charge the battery frequently, but also only when necessary. Overcharging is not necessary. Frequent full charging of a battery has a detrimental effect on battery life. If you make mostly short trips of less than 5 km, charge the battery after 2 or 3 trips.

Tip 4: Do not leave the charger permanently paired with the bicycle battery

Keep the charger plugged in for a day (or night) at most, then disconnect it from both the battery and the mains. This is because bike batteries that are 90% or 95% charged wear out less quickly and thus last longer than bike batteries that are and remain fully charged. Not only do you contribute to the environment this way, you also save on your energy costs.

Tip 5: Store the bicycle battery free of frost and moisture

Avoid temperatures below freezing. However, for storing a battery, cold is not bad at all. So it doesn't hurt to keep the bike battery in a garage or shed during the winter. Colder temperatures slow down the battery's natural aging process. Temperatures below freezing are best avoided, however, partly because of possible condensation. Electronics and moisture do not mix well.

Tip 6: Never charge the bicycle battery in temperatures below freezing

Batteries should only be charged at temperatures above freezing. Charging below freezing results in a chemical process resulting in irreversible damage which negatively affects battery life. A harsh winter? Then charge the battery indoors.

Tip 7 : Use only chargers suitable for your bicycle battery

Do not use power supplies or chargers for other battery technologies, as this can seriously damage the battery, sometimes with dangerous consequences.
